We got up early like a usual school day, and headed for Belfast this morning. To visit the Christmas continental market at the City Hall. No more continental markets coming to our town, you see.
Just before leaving the house at 8:20, we were joking that we would bump into someone we knew in Belfast. Then, on the way to the train station, there was L, who lives just down the street! She was going to Lisburn for Christmas shopping, and she quickly joined us on the train. So, no boring moment while travelling to Belfast. Chatting away like any other bunches of women do.
Got off at the Central station, and walked down to St George's market. My girls had a crepe each for breakfast, and I had a coffee. Then, walked to the Victoria Square, where we couldn't resist a few stuff at Accessorize. I got a big funky ring, which went brilliant with my purple nails. My girls laugh and say that I am sad because no man would buy me a ring and I had to buy one by myself... (At least I chose the one that I liked!!) Then, went around a few more shop, and got out of the shopping centre.
The Christmas market at the City Hall was brilliant. Of course it was packed with many people of all ages. A Saturday afternoon, after all. My wee one got a German sausage with bread, my big girl got a bowl of chickpea curry, and I had a few bites each from both of them, which were our lunch. Didn't buy any non-food stuff, which was quite typical of me. Bought several Italian pastries, a whole custard brioche and a few pastries from a Breton stall, and a couple of Greek bread.
Then, walked around the city centre, popping in shops which we usually went. The great majority of the crowd was doing Christmas shopping, but we weren't. Well, only Christmasy stuff we got was a small tub of cranberry body butter that a shop assistant recommended us. Lovely smell.
Caught a 15:10 train and came home well before 16:30. My plan worked OK. I didn't want to get a train home at around tea time because it would be jam-packed and I didn't want to walk home when it was too dark. We still have plenty of time until tea, and we don't need to rush to do anything. Great.
My girls seem quite happy, and I'm in a good mood, too. This is a kind of moment that I feel great for not having a man. 3 girls going out to the city for shopping, and who needs a grumpy one who keeps nagging us to hurry up in shops??
