Last week, I wrote that I couldn't get minced chicken at the butcher's. BUT the thing has changed, thanks to my big gob.
This morning, I went to the butcher's to get some pork for spring rolls. (Some of the minced pork is still in my freezer, but I don't want to use it for spring rolls.) A butcher kindly offered to slice it up for me, so I was waiting by the counter. While waiting for pork, I got talking to another butcher, who minced some pork for me last week, because his baby photos were plastered on the shop window. (He became 40 this week. Why could I just stand there without asking him how he felt about his age??) Anyway, when telling him that my girls had to wait to eat minced chicken until we go to Japan again, he told me that they would sell me minced chicken if I order a lot (about 5 pounds) the day before. Why didn't he tell me so the last time, then!!!
So, there will be some minced chicken in this town later this year. Good.
Stayed in the shop for an extra few minutes because slices of a birthday cake was on the counter. (Hooray! Free food!)
