Today, my wee one told me that C (a schoolmate who lives 100 yards away from our house) was giving a dirty look at another girl at school.
I asked her why, but my girl didn't know any reasons initially. But soon I found out that C was a xenophobe and said clearly that she hated foreigners. C was giving a dirty look at a Lithuanian girl just because the girl was not British.
Actually, C used to play with my wee one, and her family were pleasant to us. But since C's dad came back to live with them again, they have been ignoring us. Now I know the reason for their snub. I had thought that they had fallen out with me because of my personality or what I did. But actually, they decided not to do anything with us because they are narrow-minded. OK. They are the ones who have a problem. Not I. That's better.
I feel sorry for C and her sister who are being brought up by narrow-minded adults. What bright future would they have in the era of globalization and multiculturalism?
