Little G got a dog!!!

Little G's mum got a dog earlier this week. (On Tuesday, I think. Not sure, really.) Little G banged (not knocked) my back door with excitement to tell us the news. It's a 3 month-old Jack Russel puppy, and her name is Buddi (pronounced as "buddy"), the same name as Little G's favourite cuddly toy dog. (Isn't Buddy a boy's name??) None of us in my house couldn't believe our ears when hearing the news. Little G's mother hasn't been having an easy time as a single parent.

Yesterday and today, Little G, Buddi and my wee one were playing in my back garden and Little G's gran's back yard. Buddi is very well trained for her age, and actually I haven't heard her barking yet. (No, she is not mute. Little G's mum told me that the dog howled a bit.) But one concern is how Little G treats Buddi. Today, she lifted Buddi and accidentally dropped the dog on her gran's concrete yard. Sometimes, she seems to forget that Buddi is not a cuddly toy, probably because she is a kind of 6 year-old who still lives in a fluffy fairy world. Poor creature was limping with teary eyes afterwards, according to my wee one. I guess it's not Buddi, but Little G who has to be trained.

  1. In my opinion, kids shouldn't handle animals unsupervised until they're at least 10. There might be cases where they may be younger, but in general...

  2. I totally agree with you, Laerke. Quite many kids under 10 don't (can't?) really figure out the consequences of their actions, and they are extremely self-centred. And many (including adults) don't realise that their pet animals are not humans, which, in my eyes, is rather uncaring and selfish.

As for Little G, her mother and auntie are a very responsible type of people. So, I'm sure they will train Little G seriously if they want to keep the dog.
