Avoid this company like plague!!!

Ordered some books and DVDs from amazon.co.uk, which I often do because the shops in the town don't usually sell the kind of stuff I like. It was a week ago, and the goods were dispatched on Friday and due delivered on Saturday. The delivery wasn't going to be by my beloved Royal Mail, but this private company called City Link. New to me, but I thought not much about it.

Then, no delivery on Saturday. Then, emailed them on Monday evening because there was no delivery on that day, even their website said there would be. Frustrated, I phoned their customer service this morning, and was told that my package was loaded onto the van for delivery today and would be classed as priority because of the yesterday's failed delivery.

Waited, but nothing. And then, a reply to the email came. The woman wrote that she could confirm that the package was loaded onto the van for delivery today. Sounded promising.

BUT nothing. So, at 16:30, I phoned and spoke to a woman at the Belfast depot. Surprisingly she told me that the delivery of my package was stated as "due on 01/10/08"!!! And the depot also got no instruction from customer service in England... Yeah, I was fuming. (But I was good and did not use bad languages.) Even though I knew that the woman could do nothing about today's delivery, I let her know how I felt.

Then, I emailed back to the customer service woman, calling her a liar and telling her there was some kind of fault in the company. Then, she emailed me back in 20 minutes (Wow, fast customer service by a slow delivery company!) telling me that she had passed the complaint to the senior management for investigation and giving me an apology. Such an apology wouldn't make the situation better, so I emailed to amazon to let them know what kind of shite City Link was.

And, I also found loads of really bad reviews on City Link on the Internet. So, I am not the only one who suffers from the company, but it's not fair that City Link wasted my time and still gets paid!!

  1. Hey Akiko,

We have the same garbage here in the US. I had a package sent to me by UPS, not by the Postal Service as I had requested. UPS couldn't find my house and looked in the phone book and just picked ANOTHER Doug Baker and delivered it to his porch. (They explained all this to me later.) Nevermind that he lives in a totally different town twenty miles away. It took weeks to figure out why I hadn't gotten the package, and when we did figure it out UPS refused to go pick it up and bring it to me. They said that once it is "delivered" it is out of their hands. Fortunately I was able to get ahold of the other Doug Baker and he still had the book. He said he had been wondering why someone had sent him such a strange book. . .
