Made butter bean stew with lamb from the Lebanese cookbook for tea this evening. Served with rice and salad. My girls loved the meal, to my surprise. Good, another dish to add to the list of my family favourite. The Lebanese cooking is simple and wholesome, which I like a lot.
Made lokshen kugel for pudding. Wanted to make it for a long time, but somehow always forgot to buy noodles for it. Made it with vermicelli from Nigella Lawson's book Feast. Went down well with my girls, though my wee one didn't like it when it was rather hot. (She liked it when it was slightly warm.)
So, this evening my dining table looked like a miraculous harmony in the Middle East. You see, the Jews and the Arabs can be on my table without blowing themselves up or a bombing raid. (Don't get me wrong, I'm not a kind of person who arrogantly tell people in the Middle East to shake hands and love each other.) I love their food.
Sounds delicious!
ReplyDeleteReminds me that whenever there's some kind of "let's have a happy integration party" here where Ethnic Danes are supposed to meet and make friends with fellow citizen of other ethnicities, it's always centered on eating lots and lots of each other's food. Not that there's anything bad about that :-)
Pity there's no such party in my area. There are many moving here from the Continent, though. So, I'm doing this "ethnic" stuff all by myself:)
