Registered a Japanese social network site called Mixi on the net a couple of days ago. Looked for a Japanese community in N Ireland and soon found one. Said Hello to the members. To be honest I have no intention of socialising with people just because they are Japanese. But no harm getting to know them. Surely we can help each other.
Today, with my girls, hopped on a bus to a shopping centre out of the town for a half-term holiday day out. Am not completely recovered from the cold/flu, but promised the trip. So, had to go.
Had big lunch at a cafe. The lady who served us were very generous and got tons of food. Bought kids' clothes and kids' Diddl stationary. Then, bought DVDs "Tonari no Totoro" (for my girls), "Run Lola Run" and "Amelie". Can't get any of the titles in the town, which was the excuse for buying them. A bloke at the till told me that he had the same DVDs (not "Totoro") as well. Always nice to find somebody with the same/similar taste of films/music as mine. The great majority of people in this country can't be bothered with foreign films. So, it's a rare chance and something to smile about. He looked a kind of quiet arty type, indeed. He could have bought me a coffee and we could have talked about films this afternoon. (But who would ask a woman dragging 2 children with her for a coffee. Pity the shop is not in the town.) Oh well.
I have those movies too!
