I live to eat

We hopped on a train and went to Belfast today. Yes, to visit Christmas market just outside the City Hall building. All of us loved the market last year, you see.

We got off the train at the Central Station, and went inside St George's market fist because we arrived at Belfast at 12:20 and the Christmas market was to open from 13:00. My wee one couldn't take an eye off a chocolate fudge cake at one of the bread/cake stall, and she had to have a slice. My big girl and I shared a blueberry scone because we had planned to have our lunch at the Christmas market.

Anyway, the Christmas market was the same as the last year. I remembered many faces at the stalls from the last year and saw the same products. But I'm happier than the last year, thanks to my first currywurst experience. I had heard about it, watched it on a TV news programme before. But one of the German sausage stalls had currywurst this year, which meant that I wouldn't go home without eating one. The taste? I liked the sweet curry sauce, which was nice together with a mildly-spiced sausage. Curry powder topping was good, too. My girls had a German sausage with bread each, and ended up eating it with the curry sauce in my tray. (I wonder where I can get that sauce...).

Afterwards, I couldn't resist a slice of baklava at a Greek stall when I bought our favourite: a garlic and herb bread and a chili bread. The tray of baklava didn't look neat like ones you usually see at shops, but I had to try a slice when it looked more homely in a nice way. I nearly died when the man handed me a slice. It was huge! But it was nicely scented with clove and wasn't too syrupy. So, me and my big girl finished eating it while my wee one was murdering the rest of her choc-fudge cake. (Yes, all of us are happily on the way to hell for gluttony on the sabbath day.)

We decided to leave the market and headed for somewhere warm, Victoria Square. We sat down at O'Brien's and had something to drink and shared a slice of apple pie with cream. (You see, still eating.) Guess what? By chance we found that Wagamama had been open in the shopping centre! If we had known that, we would have had a lunch there today. Pity that we couldn't eat at Wagamama, but we decided to have a lunch one Sunday later this month or next month. Yes, our life is revolved round food, indeed.

Laugh of the day:
When we were picking 2 pastries each at a stall called "French Tarts" (Don't you love the name?), a Northern Irish woman walked past us saying to her companion, "Here is so German!" with an excited voice without any sarcasm at all. We had to stop breathing until she disappeared, so that we wouldn't burst into laughing.
