My work has been quite hectic recently, and I become totally useless when I stop working, which naturally resulted in no blog writing for a wee while. (Missed me? I know, I know, I hear you saying "What?")
A few laughable moments during the non-blogging period, as usual. I have already forgotten most of them but here is one:
I asked my girls what they had eaten for lunch at school. (I do this every weekday.) After this Q&A, my big girls said, "I didn't take school's spaghetti bolognese because it looked weird. The sauce had only meat and tomatoes".
I had to tell her that that was a very standard bolognese.
She had thought that what I always made was the "normal" one. I usually add chopped vegetables (mostly a combination of peppers, courgettes, mushrooms, sweetcorn, aubergines, etc. Whatever available at home, really.) because I like bulking up meaty dishes with vegetables, and I love those added flavours (and a sense of "added vitamins").
Now my girls know the reality, and call my bolognese a "weird version". How dare they!!! Just looks and takes like a bolognese mixed with ratatouille, that's all!
Tell her it's a typical Danish bolognese :-)
ReplyDeleteThat's how I (and my family) usually cook it too. We need our five a day, don't we?
:)
ReplyDeleteI think all came from my mother's spaghetti dish. She did not use mince, but little pieces of thinkly-sliced pork and 3-4 kinds of veggies in tomato-based sauce. I grew up with this, so I usually go like "I need a dose of vegetables now" whenever I eat a plate of standard spag-bol.
