My wee one showed me a folder which she made at a technology class at school. Very first creation at the tech lab. So, she sounded very excited, telling me every detail. The folder is very simple. (Primitive?) Just two white rectangular veneer boards, which used to be parts of kitchen units/drawers, stuck together with black duct tape. Each board has a little hole so that the folder can be fastened with a string. Every pupil made one each for him/herself, and they will use it for school for the rest of the year.
After explaining, my wee one said with a big smile,
"Mummy, I didn't know that this black tape is actually called duct tape. I always believed it was called duck tape!"
I must thank the technology teacher for making my little girl a little bit cleverer.
You know, you can actually buy duct tape in a brand called Duck Tape... just adds to the confusion (but it's great tape).
ReplyDeleteOh, I see. Duck Tape. Actually, people pronounce "duck tape" when they say "duct tape" in English. I haven't never seen the brand yet here.
