Wow, she is still alive

Unexpected things happen, indeed.

This morning, I took my wee one to our dentist's. After exchanging a few routine words with a receptionist, we sat down in the waiting area, and said "Hello" to an acquaintance S who was waiting his turn.

And across the room, I spotted a familiar-looking woman looking downwards reading an magazine. She looked very similar to my estranged relative (see this page). But with her long hair covering most of her face, I wasn't 100% sure. I hadn't seen this relative for more than 3 years, anyway. I don't even know where she lives now or what her phone numbers are, anyway. (I don't chase people who are rude enough to ignore me without telling me a reason.)

Surprise, surprise, it was the relative, indeed. My wee one and I nearly jumped when we heard an dental nurse calling her name.

I first thought that we should have said "Hello" to her, even though we don't like her at all. But maybe we were right for leaving her alone. When we came into the reception area, I told the receptionist my wee one's name, and I said "yes" when the receptionist was confirming the identity by the address and the date of birth, all of which were loud enough to be heard by everyone in the waiting room. So, my relative must have known who we were before we spotted a "lookalike". She looked at us several times, too.

No, I don't feel sad/bad about this. I still have no clue why she burnt the bridge between us some years ago. So, it's not my problem or fault if she ever feels awkward about me. But one thing: Why was she sitting with a posture as if she didn't want to be identified by us? That's telling something, don't you think?
