Thanks to Mr Osborne, I will be trying to fit into children's clothes next year.

I couldn't concentrate on my work very well yesterday, because I felt quite anxious about the government's emergency budget, which was revealed during dinner time (= lunchtime in standard English).

Anyway, now I feel OK. All the cuts sound very painful, but I think we need this kind of pain so that we will be financially healthier in a few years' time. (My nationality is Japanese, but I do care about the country I'm living in. Wherever I live is my home, after all.) This government won't starve me and my girls. So, we will survive. I mean, for example, many people seem disgusted about Child Benefit being frozen for 3 years. But this only means that the rate won't go up for the next 3 years, and whoever entitled to the benefit will be paid at the current rate. Better than taxing this benefit or mean-test it or even scrapping it. We've got many generous Child Benefit rise for these several years, anyway, and child element of Child tax Credit will go up. So, I can't moan about the Chancellor's decision. He added a grand for personal allowance as well, which means £200 less income tax next year?

Only concern for me and my family is VAT rise. From 17.5% to 20% is a big jump. Only good thing about this is that it's easier to calculate the amount of this tax. So, probably I will keep buying non-VAT goods, which means I will be eating and reading. And probably I will also start losing inches around my body so that I will be able to fit into children's clothes?? (I'm joking, don't you know?)
