Honey, honey...

First, please let me apologise to every one who is waiting for my letters and emails. I've been trying to clear the backlog of replying to mails even since we got the mobile broadband at home. But so hard to get everything sorted when there's tons of things to do even without computer. Thank you for your patience.

Still no broadband through the phone line. Yes, of course, I don't like this, but there's nothing else I can do by my self. And BT's attitude is not as bad as I thought it could. So, I haven't given up a hope yet, but I decided not to let this incident take over my life.

And another technical glitch today. I was trying to use my debit card on-line, and somehow I could not register my card with the card company's security system. So, I phoned, and was told that my bank must be holding the incorrect date birth of mine!
So, I visited the bank (just 15 minutes on foot) and asked about my account details. Surprise, surprise, I was supposed to be born on August, not September!! Why did my bank want me to become 37 years old 1 one month too early, I don't know. Anyway, a lady corrected the detail. strange, though. I've been having my accounts at the bank even since I arrived UK 14 years ago, and I could even got my credit card issued. (Thinking all the checks for card application, I'm sure they should have found out my incorrect birthday a few years ago.)

Anyway, another 2 phone calls to the card company, everything was sorted fine. The first agent forgot to tell me that it could take 5 working days to update the new detail. But the second one gave me the right info and volunteered to register my card with the security system on the phone. I can't be more grateful with her kindness. But one thing. She kept calling me "honey"! Yeah, a rather out-dated, politically-incorrect and patronising way of calling a stranger, isn't it? But I didn't mind it at all. There are loads of people using "honey", "pet", "dear", "love", etc. around me, and I know that they don't have silly discriminating attitudes. But a customer service agent calling "honey"... Something to remember.

  1. Oh yes, those "darling", "love" etc. I know they mean well, but it makes me shudder every time!
