Am I really Japanese?

Watched a TV programme on BBC2 about a N Irish man staying in Nepal for a peace work, which was a couple of days ago, I think. My girls exclaimed "Oh, she is Mummy!" when they spotted a Nepalese woman at a women's meeting in a remote area. I must admit that she looked like me. Kind of "my long-lost twin" look. My girls told me that the woman even smiled like me!!

Once I was told by a friend at school, "Akiko, my friend said that you were like a foreigner." It makes me think. Probably my ancient ancestors came from that part of the world??

  1. May be the case of 'Double life of Akiko...'? I watched that film, but didn't like it so much (compared to other ones by the same director).
Sometimes,I was also asked if I am Chinese...

  2. Could be "Double life of...":)

So far, Kieslowski's films haven't disappionted me (yet). Earlier this year, I finished watching all the episodes of Dekalog, which was absolutely fantastic.

I, too, am asked if I am Chinese, sometimes. And recently Chinese-looking people stare at me very very strongly. My Northern Irish neighbours were quite surprised when they witnessed it.
