A trip to a lovely zoo

Our friend S took us to Belfast Zoo for my big one's birthday treat. (The birthday was in March, but my girl didn't know what she wanted for a treat at that time.) My wee one and I don't like zoos because we hate to see zoo animals suffer from stress caused by humans' selfish interests. But we didn't say a word about it.

The weather was good but the air was rather chilly because the zoo was located on a hill beside the lough/sea. (If you don't like walking on a steep hill, you shouldn't go there.) Pleasant. Only bad thing was me forgetting to bring a camera with us...

I must admit that I like Belfast Zoo. All the animals had loads of space for themselves. And all the enclosures have places where animals can hide from humans anytime they want so that they won't be stressed. So, some enclosures had more bushes than other zoos' and we found many empty enclosures. No tigers, no wolves, no tapirs, etc. Of course it can be said as "disappointment" but you shouldn't force those animals to be displayed just because we paid entrance fees. It's not a freak show, you know. I am very impressed with the animal welfare.

So, we walked a lot and found not many animals. But at least we didn't feel sorry for the animals. And the facilities are simple and clean, which is great for family with small children.

One more thing. I started having a migraine when we were heading for a cafe in the zoo. But it disappeared soon after I started eating. It must be something to do with blood sugar level or with blood/circulation. Interesting finding.
