The weather was brilliant, too

My girls and I travelled to Dublin to meet M and R, who were there on their holiday. Didn't miss the train but couldn't find seats for 4 people. So, I was alone behind my girls, which was actually very peaceful despite my girls kept talking to me.

M and R were already at Connolly Station, Dublin. We spotted each other very easily. Then we headed off to a shopping centre which was supposed to be a big and cool and new in Dublin. Had something to drink in a cafe inside the shopping centre. But it's not big place for a shopping centre of a capital city, and not cool for not having any "cool" shops. But yes, everything looked new alright.

We visited Dublin Castle but couldn't go inside the building because it was used for political thingy. So, we walked to an Anglican Cathedral near by. (Yes, visiting a Catholic country but not visiting a Catholic place. No, no, no political reasons for the visit.) Must admit that liked the crypt. The religious atmosphere added a mixture of spookiness and calmness under the ground. My kids were so happy to see mummified cat and rat in a glass case. The poor creatures were found inside an organ pipe. Who want to die like that...

Had a lunch in Temple Bar area. Typical Irish pub atmosphere, but the music was "Top 40" kind, which showed the reality of this country. Had a bowl of Irish stew. Plenty of lamb in it and surprised that there's not much potatoes inside. Actually it was like the one my next-door neighbour makes. More liquid in it. I must tell her that she makes stew like a Dubliner. (Joking.)

Afterwards we headed for Natural History Museum only to find it closed. How lucky. So, popped in The National Gallery near-by. Am not really into traditional 17-18 century European paintings. Great techniques but boring, to be honest. BUT my big girl and I found some modern stuff by chance. There weren't many, but they made our heart dance, indeed.

Afterwards we had coffee and headed back to Connolly Station. Got on the train 7 minutes before the time. So, couldn't find seats for all of us to sit together. Asked 2 ladies sitting at a place for 4 people to let my girls sit with them. And put my big arse on a little shelf for luggage nearby. 5 minutes later, 2 businessmen moved their seats to the opposite side and offered the place for us. Lovely. One of them looked like Steve Davis, actually. (No, not the real one. He was Irish alright.)

M and R are a lovely couple. Pity that they will leave Europe in summer. Just hope/wish/pray that we will have another chance to meet again.

One more thing. Felt the same thing when came back from Dublin, as from London last year. People in this town somehow looked trashy-looking and fatter. Is this a kind of "class" thingy?
