How couldn't I find it earlier?

Some weeks ago (I don't even remember exactly when, actually...) I lost a necklace. I always kept it in a tiny purse in the top drawer of the dressing table in my bedroom. But the purse was empty when I opened it to get the necklace. I looked everywhere in the house. Even asked my kids if they had seen it. (I felt like blaming one of them, but it's not fair, is it?) But I couldn't find it. So, I stopped looking for it as I didn't want to spend too much time just for looking for a necklace without any sentimental value. (I like it, though.)

But I found it on the dressing table by chance!! It was just beside a make-up box and behind a tinned candle. Strange. I searched the place a few time. I know my dressing table looks more complicated (which means messier) than an average dressing table. But how couldn't I find it if it had been staying on that spot for such a long time... I'm starting to believe that necklace can move by itself.
