On her bike

My wee one was in a mood for riding her bicycle today. The weather has been very nice, any way. She was on the footpaths in our neighbourhood for hours until 7.45pm. I know that this is a safe area for kids to play outside. But of course she was in the corner of my mind all the time. Saw her chatting with a middle-aged man, which made me panic for a second but I soon realised that he was my next-door neighbour's son-in-law. Then, after an hour or so, she came back calling me. She told me, "Mummy, a man who lives at Number 4 in *^%&%$ street, stopped me..." I thought "Oh, no, what has she done? Upset him?" But she showed me her bike and told me that he had fixed the height of the seat for her. Lucky girl. Soon she got on her bike again and sped off. Later she came home with 2 packets of crisps, which the man had given her. My hubby and I have known the man, his wife and daughter since we moved this house. But it was a nice surprise.

I've started feeling better today, but I've had a migraine this morning and even the usual painkiller didn't work well. And whatever I did, I felt as if half of my energy had already drained away. (But managed to hoover downstairs and mow the lawn in the front garden. Aren't I a good girl?) Oh well. Maybe I need a couple of nights' good sleep and good rest during the day. Ah, but I must go out tomorrow. Who would miss the annual continental market in the town??
