Am I well known in this town?!

Went out with my wee one this afternoon, near teatime, to collect her glasses at optician's. But first I needed to draw some cash at an ATM facing a clothes shop.

While I was using the machine, my wee one went inside the clothes shop to see if she can find a pair of jeans for herself. Soon I joined her, and she bought a pair.

At the till a young man served us. After putting the jeans into a plastic bag, he asked me, "Are you Japanese?"

What a thing to ask!

I confirmed my nationality and asked him why he thought I was Japanese. Then, he told me that he studied Japanese at university and spend some time in Kumamoto. Also, he told me that his father knew my (late) husband. (The dead one knew quite many blokes in the town because he was extremely chatty.)

He made me speechless, indeed. For a couple of seconds, though. I have no idea who this young man is.

So, he knew something about me for goodness know how long... I walk past the shop quite often, and I stand out in a stupid manner in any crowd. So, he must have seen me quite often. I wonder who his father is. Probably I don't know him at all. Was he the man who said "Hello" to me at bakery? No idea.

My goodness, I must behave like a good girl in this town. I have no idea who knows me and who doesn't.
