Holiday, yellow nails and summer sale

This week, we had a 2-day holiday in the southern part of N Ireland, which all of us enjoyed. A uphill walk to the Cloughmore (Try image search on Google), playing on the beaches in Kilkeel town (Twice!) and Cranfield, a riverside walk near Hanna's Close in Kilkeel. All thanks to S, who has a house in Kilkeel. The water was too cold to swim in, but we took our shoes off and wet the ankles (sometimes knees). Collected some pretty pebbles, skimmed stones, and made some sand sculptures. (A fishing boat, an octopus and a mermaid, which made my girls said "We should have brought a camera." I must get modelling clay sometime for arty activities.) It showered a bit, but it was good. Good enough to remember good old happy days of spending summer on the beach near my granny's.

For those 2 days, I was the only non-white person. There might be some Chinese or Indian people running takeaways and restaurants, but as far as we could see, I was the only odd-looking one. Quite different from the town I live, indeed. Also, I was the only one who wore stupidly bright colour on my finger nails. (Still on now.) It's bright yellow. As bright as sweetcorn. As bright as yellow paint out of your art case. It's great on tanned skin, actually. I guess no one will ask me out if I keep wearing bright colours on my hair and nails like this... It's fun, though.

Talking of bright colour, my wee one and I couldn't resist "Up to 70% off" end of the season sale at Benetton's in the town. (My nail colour suited the shop, which I found very funny.) She got a bright blue jean jacket and a purple long smock-top, and I got a stripey knitted top. I paid less than £25 for all of them!!! Can't believe it. Can't wait until the next end of the season sale already...
