Can anyone explain about this?

My mother's laptop (actually it was my brother's initially) broken down, and it can't be fixed. So, she has to get a new one, and she asked me what kind of stuff she should get. Why me?? I never touched a computer when I lived in Japan, you know. I learned everything about computer in UK, so whatever I know about computer is in English... Of course I know some Japanese equivalent of technical terms, but still I'm not bilingual when to comes to computer.

Then, soon afterwards, my internet browser went strange in the afternoon. I was proofreading texts of a website (= my work), and then suddenly the font of site's navigation bar became bigger in some pages (not every page in the company's website), and the navigation bar in the affected pages did not function. The graphics in the affected pages looked coarser, too. So strange. First, I thought that there were some technical glitch inside the company. But then I thought that there might be something wrong in my computer, so I restored the system back to this morning's status. But the problem was not solved. Then, when I was explaining this patchy malfunctioning to my big girl, the troubled pages went back to normal...

So, does it mean that it was something to do with the company's system not mine? But during the difficulty, I noticed that the broadband light of my modem was flickering as if the light bulb inside was going to die...  But since the problem is over, the light has been absolutely fine.

I guess some people blame something paranormal or/and supernatural. But there should be some logical/scientific explanation for this. Anyway, everything is fine now, and my work is OK.
