Degree of separation is less than 6 in my case

Went to a little bit of grocery shopping this morning. I must admit that I enjoy walking around the town popping into small independent shops. First to a bakery, then to a butcher's and then to a green grocer's at the town market. It's more like a mummy bear go out hunting, really. Supermarkets are handy, but I like asking for food stuff instead of grabbing them from shelves.

Anyway, it was a bit spooky at the butcher's. As soon as I went into the crowded shop, E greeted me. (He is always nice.) Then, he told me that the woman who he was serving was in Tokyo 2 weeks ago. Japan is not an ordinary holiday destination for the folks in N Ireland, so I was surprised. Then, the woman said to me, "I think that my daughter knows you", which made me surprised more. Hearing her name, I got everything. The woman was the mother of M who married a bloke from Tokyo! I met M and her Japanese fiance (now husband) in the town many years ago after my friend in Tokyo emailed me that her colleague was going out with an Irish girl who lives in the town I live.

Nice to hear this young girl was doing great in Tokyo. I knew that she eventually married the bloke and moved to Tokyo. But hearing about it from her mother makes me pleased more. After a little chatting, M's mum paid and left the shop. And E served me, and I was explaining to him how I'd got to know M. "It's a small world, isn't it?" he exclaimed. Yes, it is. I didn't even know there were people who both E and I knew. I had thought that there was no such connection between us...
