Unbelievable...

First, please let me say "Thank you!" to everyone who sent me birthday messages, cards, etc. I'm no at the age when I look forward to my own birthday any more. But still I enjoyed my birthday this year. There was an annual festival at the town centre, and according to a card shop, it was the Jewish New Year. An atmosphere of celebration was already surrounding me on that day even before I thought about my birthday.

And today, a BT engineer visited my house for the broadband issue. A different bloke from the last visit. According to his laptop, the line was perfect and he could get the broadband with his modem perfectly with a great speed. So, I thought "Do I have to buy a new modem by myself?" But after a phone call, he decided to examine something at the exchange, and went. After a while, I switched on my BT-issued wireless hub, the blue light came on, which meant "Connected to the broadband"!!!!!!! Unbelievable. Honestly, how could I believe my eyes after more than 4 weeks of non-stop failed attempts??? The engineer came back, but left as soon as I told him the successful connection. Thank you (to this particular engineer, not the other people working for BT).

Now my life is getting back to normal (I think). No more getting phone calls with extremely heavy Indian accent. (Nothing wrong with people speaking in those accent. I'm just not used to that accent yet.) No more making complaints (not yet, anyway). Oh, as for the mobile broadband, it was better than expected, actually. I will try and keep the account somehow so that I will be able to use it the next time BT stuff breaks down. (Yes, I'm bloody pessimistic.) I'm grateful for this mobile thingy, because without this I couldn't have accepted a week-long translation project. Phew.

Hope no more technical glitch for me for a while. I had honestly thought that I was cursed or something...

  2. Oh, yeah, this Chicken-Out thingy. No idea why this started suddenly. I removed the banner, as it's annoying as much as a double-gazing window salesperson on the phone;-)
