Who would have imagined that the book was there...

I lost a decent Japanese cookbook a few months ago. It just disappeared. Very strange that I couldn't find my book in my own house. I looked everywhere in the kitchen and the living room. But I couldn't find it at all, and recently I decided that the book accidentally dropped into a box where I dumped paper rubbish for recycling. You might laugh, but it was like a pet cat hadn't come home for weeks and the owner decided to stop looking for her.

Today, I decided to clean the fridge-freezer inside out. The fridge hadn't been working well recently, and I thought that a good old cleaning might help. First I defrosted the freezer, then, clean the inside of the fridge. Then, I pulled the fridge-freezer forward so that I could hoover the back of it. (It was dusty like hell.)

Guess what? I found the cookbook!!!!! It had been squashed at the back of the fridge-freezer!!!!! Unbelievable. How could it happen??? No, there's no mischievous child or fairy in this house. (My girls know very well that I would scream my head off and make them cry if they ever ruined my books. And fairies... surely they wouldn't like to be literally torn into pieces by this scary witch.) Anyway, it seems that the book was on the top of a cabinet standing next to the fridge-freezer. And it fell behind the fridge-freezer somehow. My goodness, it was very warm when I rescued it, because it'd been stuck for ages just above the motor between the fridge and the wall...

That was a nice surprise, indeed. Like suddenly a lost cat appearing the back door after weeks of absence. But if I hadn't decided to clean the back of the fridge, the book would be still there... Scary.
