Rumours

Yesterday morning, many streets near my house were cordoned off by the police. I noticed it when I was walking my girls to school. It was in the middle of morning rush hour, and the traffic was in total chaos. (Nice not to have a car when a thing like this happens.)

Beyond one of the police lines, I spotted a dark car on the footpath in front of a church. On that day, I hear those speculations from the town folks:
  • A suspected car bomb (It's supposed to be peaceful in Norther Ireland, but lunatics are still alive, so...)
  • The driver of the car had a heart attack and crashed into the wall beside the footpath.
  • The male driver ran over a woman walking on the footpath. (Jealous lover/husband?)
  • A man who was in the back seat of the car tried to kill the driver.

The streets were blocked for 2-3 hours, which is why people suspect something other than a simple car crash. But when I checked the local newspaper's website later that evening, it said that, even though the police didn't disclose much info, the event was the second one on the above list. You don't know what to believe when you hear something from people around you, do you?
