Well, I already knew that. ("Stupid" part.) But a sad thing is that I always manage to prove my stupidity very well and often publicly. (I'm writing about this here anyway. I've got a thick skin alright.)
This evening, I was trying to sort out the hard disk of this computer at home. Deleting unwanted files and programmes. Not a rocket science for this task. All you need is a reasonable mind and decent decisions. BUT! (Yes, BUT comes in my world every other minute) I somehow deleted a programme which controlled all the audio system in this computer!!! I have no such software with me in this house. So, you can guess how badly I was panicking!!!
Fortunately I have a relative K, in a neighbouring town, who knows too much about computers. So, I phoned him and asked for a help. He mentioned a Windows disk, but this computer didn't come with one because of the IBM's back-up + restoring system. So, no use. But soon he asked if I had done any back-ups recently. Of course I back-up my hard disk every 4-6 weeks, because I am a big pessimist. So, K advised me to use the back-up disks.
And thanks to my precious back-up disks, the audio system was restored successfully! Why didn't I think of the back-up disks before phoning K??? I don't know. Probably heaven was telling me that it's about time I spoke to him again.
