I look modern for a change

Bought a new mobile phone (Nokia 2310) this morning. Chose the very simple one because all I need is to make/receive calls and texting messages. Hate the latest all-in-one kind of stuff. They are like Swiss army knives which can be handy but not really necessary to have. The old handset (really really ancient) has become out of battery fairly quickly recently. So, decided to buy a new handset.

Thought about going to a catalog shop in the town, but walked in a mobile phone shop instead, as wanted reassuring words from a salesperson. (Am still wary of technology.)

The sales assistant told me that it was cheaper to buy a package (handset + SIM card) instead of buying only a handset. It's like a holiday package deal at a travel agent. Cheaper to buy flights and hotel together than flights only. Strange business. Found a simple phone and the assistant suggested that I buy a package of a network providing company which was not my number's provider. Looking at my confused face, he explained that all I have to do was use the free airtime by the company at home and swap the SIM card to my old one when I have to go out. Mmm. Had thought that my SIM card wouldn't work unless I bought a package of my provider. You see, this is how dopey I really am.

The assistant was nice and helpful, and the best thing about this was not being pushy at all. And very patient as well even though I keep forgetting little things and asking the same questions a few times. (Due to a massive migraine earlier this morning. My brain doesn't function for at least several hours after a migraine stops. Can be a walking comedy show.) Also bought a 12-month insurance for breakdown and accidental damage. Knowing how dopey I can be, need it desperately.

Now don't need to hide my ancient phone out of people's sight when am out. It had been very embarrassing to carry the old handset even though it can be hidden in my hand. To be honest, was also secretly proud that didn't buy a new phone for several years. Feel like upgrading my life, really.
