Should I watch the remaining two as well?

Watched the first of "The Lord of the Ring" trilogy on TV tonight. Now I don't understand why so many people rave about the film. It's nowhere near the world of Tolkien. Too many things are missing and changed. There's no depth in anything. Everything goes in a flash. (I know it's a film which must end in a few hours for the blood circulations of viewers' backsides, but...) The worst thing is, Jackson omitted songs and poems. They might be boring for many viewers but it shapes the mentality of all the living things in the Middle-earth, you know. It's a crime.
