"Akiko, look!"

While I was putting the washing on the line at the back, little Latvian sisters IL and K told me that it would be IL's birthday tomorrow. (She will be 8.) They sounded so excited and happy. So, my girls and I got a little present for IL and a very little thing for K to give them tomorrow.

While I was upstairs in the afternoon, my wee one downstairs told me that IL was calling my name at the back. What?? Why me? The Latvian girls usually call for my wee one, you know.Went out at the back and found IL showing me a kiddie's computer thingy. Must be her birthday present from her mum. Of course I made a big fuss about it and IL had a big smile. Poor little K was in a huff understandably. They started fighting a bit, so IL invited my wee one to her house. Goodness knows what they are doing now!

Recently I noticed that the Latvian sisters really love me speaking to them and giving them reactions to the things they do in their back garden. They are always like... "Akiko, look!" every 5 seconds when I try to do something at the back. They even climb up on their oil tank or the roof of the shed to say something to me when I cut the hedge between our gardens. Pity they are not gorgeous Latvian blokes of my age. (Of course I'm joking here!!!) Oh well. I shouldn't complain. They are lovely pleasant girls and I must be one of very few non-Latvian people who happily stop to chat with them. I hope their English skills soon improve a bit more and make more friends in this neighbourhood.
