Can I become a private investigator?

Decided to get the next-door's landlord's contact details. Yes, because of the noise on Friday night. Am not sure whether to complain about the incident to the landlord or not. But it's better to be able to get in touch with him just in case anything unpleasant happens again. Asked J where to look for it. She suggested the letting agent for the house.

Surprisingly, an estate agent who used to be the next-door's letting agent doesn't have the house on their list. Started thinking that the landlord was a coward who doesn't care nothing but money coming into his bank account. He was supposed to give us and the girl who used to the other side his phone number. He said that he would, before he completed the renovation of the house. He just buggered off back to Belfast where he was supposed to live. Great. Didn't even know his surname.

So, was at loss, not knowing where I could find his details. Even J, who is old and wise, did not know who could tell me the details. But phoned the local council (government) and asked if they could help me. The phone operator didn't sound confident but put me through to a woman. But the woman told me that the man who dealt with the matter was out of the office until after lunchtime. So, after lunchtime, phoned again. Now the operator told me that the council didn't have such a service!!! Of course wouldn't hang up for that. Told her that I was told to phone back. So, she took my name, number and what I wanted. Then she told me that somebody would get back to me in an hour. Yes, the man in charge phoned me and told me the landlord's house registration details!! (Hooray!) Now I know his full name and address. Good. The address was the current address of the landlord when he registered the house. So, the council man also gave me the registration reference and the name of the landlord's solicitor. Just in case the landlord is not living at the address. How kind.

Felt great that I could find out the man's details, because he intentionally forgot to give us. You see, you can't hide anything from me!
