Went out to the town centre with my girls just before lunch time. To pay the rent and do some necessary shopping. And here are some unnecessary things.
Spotted a copy of Clean Break by Jacqueline Wilson in the window of a charity shop. £0.75 for a hard-back book! Knowing that my big girl loves the author and she hadn't read this particular one, I bought it straight away. The recommended retail price is £10.99!! It's a second-hand copy, but in perfect condition No stain, no damage, no bent pages, no scribble... Can't believe our luck. (Of course I had to get my wee one something later...)
Went into a butcher. Served by a bloke whom I hadn't seen for ages. (First I thought that he was newly employed... Silly me.) I can't explain exactly how, but he looked sort of... happily interested. The way he chit-chatted with me and the way he smiled. If there hadn't been another customer waiting to be served, we would have continued the non-important conversation for a few more minutes. (And I wouldn't have minded if he had bought me a coffee or a bag of chips. Joking. Who would ask out a woman dragging 2 kids along just after her buying 3 pounds of raw meat on a hot day??) Well, the most shop assistants at small shops in this town are pleasant and friendly to their regular customers, any way. But there was something different in him. Maybe he had been fed up serving old hags all morning.
Oh, and on the way home, we spotted a young fella (in his 20s?) wearing a Rammstein T-shirt! Nice to know that there is another person who listens to decent music.
Hey, I like Rammstein too! :-)
