Now the back gate has been fixed properly, I must paint the gate and the back fence in the garden. According to my neighbour, the gate and the fence has been here for about 25 years. But they have never been painted. It's about time, really. So, this evening, about 8pm when the sunshine became weak and it got cooler, I decided to do some work.
I shifted loads of soil in front of the fence, as I couldn't see the bottom of the fence. The previous occupiers dumped grass cuttings and twigs there. They even put loads of slates against the fence so that the soil wouldn't be pouring out of the garden to the alleyway. It had been looking so untidy and I should have cleared everything when we just moved in. But there has been too many other things to be done in this jungle until now.
For an hour and a half, I lifted and moved the slates (some of which were quite heavy), dug up some little bushes I wanted to keep, dug + shifted unwanted bad quality soil into plastic bags (about 10 supermarket plastic bags), added some new soil to make the ground even, replanted + watered the bushes, brushed along the fence in the alleyway to get rid of the spilled soil, etc.
Quite pleased with myself doing all this without a break. It really proves that I'm not a delicate lady of the house. Tomorrow I will scrub the fence so that it will be ready for painting. Well, that's if I'm in the mood...
Can I hire you? My garden looks like a jungle, and our fences need paint too :-)
